Maniyar Dam is located near to the township perunadu. Maniyar is a small town located in Pathanamthitta. Geographically Maniyar is High-range area. The Maniyar dam is operated by PIP (Pampa Irrugation Project). The main purpose of the dam is irrugation, also water from maniyar dam is used for electric power generation by Carborundum Universal Ltd (CUMI). This plant has a capacity of 12 MW and extends employment to more than 40 people directly. Many tourists visit the place even in its current state. It is suggested that with a deeper, more sincere involvement of the Panchayat, all the envisaged projects could be commissioned to make Maniyar Dam one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Pathanamthitta district. Maniyar is home to a wide range of birds and wild animals. Hornbills, the engendered birds, are widely seen in this area. Maniyar rope bridge constructed chiefly of rope. In its simplest form, it can be one or two ropes that bridge a river, Pedestrian used it to cross Maniyar river. Only 4 pedestrians are allowed at a time. The Maniyar Dam and its surrounding areas have a good tourism potential, with building a children’s park and boating facilities.
