Gavi is the eco tourism project developed by kerala forest development corporation in pathanamthitta. Also Gavi is situated inside the Ranni reserve forest and is the part of Periyar tiger reserve.
Every tourists being there said its not the destination but the way to reach here is the fascinating view.
The distance from Pathanamthitta to Gavi is 109 km and 14 km south west of Vandiperiyar and 28 km from Kumily. Secondly Gavi offers various activities like trekking, wildlife watching, outdoor camping and night safaris.
Gavi’s evergreen forests are abundant with wildlife including the tiger, elephants, leopards, bears, Indian gaur, sambar, barking and mouse deers, lion tailed macaque, Nilgiri langur, Nilgiri marten, Malabar giant squirrel and more than 250 species of birds. Also the average climate falls between 15°c to 27° c.

Major activities include in Gavi tourism :

1. Boating to Kochupamba:
Boating in this emerald water is an asset to your memories that you should not miss it by any chance.

2. Jungle camping:
It is an adventurous stay over programme for those who wish to share a night with the trees and animals of Gavi forests.

3. Trekking:
Firstly the overall land of gavi is a trekking spot. You can go any where and experience the serenic beauty of gavi at its atmost perfection.

4. Wildlife Exploring:
You can spot elephants, lion tailed macaque, peacocks, bisons, malabar gaint squirrels etc easily as you trek inside the forest.

There are five dams on the way, Moozhiyar dam, kakki dam, Aanathod dam, Pamba dam and gavi dam. All this places presents unbelievable nature beauty amd aesthetic scenery.
The entrance fee costs only 20 rs and also of 100 rs and 120 rs for normal boat and basket boat.
If you are travelling on your own vehicle you need to take permission prior from gavi website because only 30 private vehicles are allowed a day bikes are not allowed. Or else you could enjoy a ksrtc bus ride for just 150rs.

Finally this trip is advisory because the serenic beauty of this place cannot be compensated and one should experience it in his lifetime.
